Are you a new visitor to the Garden? Or would you like a few suggestions to help you explore our beautiful site with your family? We have trails and family friendly backpacks available for you to borrow during your visit.
Winter Wonders trail- suitable for children 5-9 years old
It may be cold outside, but pick up a copy of this trail at the Ticket Office and see if you can find the first blooms, buds and bulbs to sprout in the Garden this year. Available at weekends throughout January from the Ticket Office.
Garden eye spy trail - suitable for the very young!
A fun trail for very small children. Can you spot 1 sparkly fountain, and all the numbers up to 10 with your grown ups?
Our family friendly backpacks will open up a world of exploration and investigation during your visit. There are usually 2 differently themed backpacks filled with hands-on equipment and suggestions for activities, especially designed to help you explore the Garden and Glasshouses together. The two themes from March 2018 are:
Build A Plant! suitable for our younger visitors (aimed at 4-6 year olds).
Can you travel around the Garden finding all the parts you need in order to build a plant? Find roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits on your travels.
Get Growing! suitable for older children (aimed at 6-9 year olds).
Can you find unusual examples of plants as you explore? Take a trip into a tropical rainforest and a desperately-dry desert!
Backpacks can be signed out without charge from the ticket office on a first come first served basis and can be used for the duration of your visit.
Ticket office open daily except in December and January when it is open at weekends only.
