Directions to Oxford Botanic Garden

Walking 👟

The Botanic Garden is just a short walk from the centre of town. From Carfax Tower, the Garden is just an 11-minute walk along the High Street. It is slightly further to walk from Oxford train station, taking around 24 minutes in total. See the location map above or check the Oxford online walking map.   

Taking the bus 🚌

The Garden is ideally located for visitors to maximise local bus stops. Visitors can choose between bus stops on St Clements Street or those on the High Street (Queens Lane). There are plenty of local buses serving these stops, including the 100 (via Oxford Parkway Park & Ride) and the 400 (via Thornhill Park & Ride). 

• From St Clements Street (Stop C) visitors can take the 5-minute walk to the Garden. Passing the roundabout on The Plain, visitors can reach the High Street by crossing Magdalen Bridge.  
• From Stops J1, J2 and J3 on the High Street (adjacent to Queens Lane) visitors can take the 2-minute walk to the Garden.  

Finally, if you plan to use the City Sightseeing CS1 bus, this departs from The Plain. Visitors can get off the bus here and walk across Magdalen College to the Garden.

Cycling & e-scooters 🚲 🛴

There are cycle racks outside the Botanic Garden entrance. The nearest e-scooter hire point is provided by Voi and is located by the Covered Market (a 2 minute ride from the Garden). Please note that the car park outside the Botanic Garden is not Botanic Garden property and bicycles are left at owners' risk.

Driving 🚙

Parking within Oxford city centre is limited, so we suggest using the Park and Ride bus service. This service helps reduce congestion within the city centre at busy times such as weekends and school holidays. Please note that there is no car park on-site and, if you wish to drive, you will need to locate a public car park.
