Access and Facilities
Visitors are very welcome to bring a picnic with them, and there are many benches to use while you are eating. Toilet facilities including an adapted toilet and baby change are available from March to October 7 days a week, but only on weekends during the winter unless by prior arrangement.
The Botanic Garden (including the glasshouses) is fully wheelchair accessible. Please note - we do not currently have a wheel chair available for public use.
Detailed access information is available here.
There is no public car parking available at the Botanic Garden. The nearest public car park is the St Clement's car park (currently around 30 spaces, OX4 1AB) which is 5 minutes' walk from the Garden. The nearest disabled parking is on Merton Street and the High Street.
There are 5 Park and Ride sites around the city and we encourage visitors to use these. The nearest bus stops are on St Clement's or at Queen's Lane. Coaches and mini-buses can drop groups off on Magdalen Bridge which is directly adjacent to the Garden.
The Garden is a 20-minute walk from the train station.
The Garden does not allow dogs in the grounds except for registered disability dogs.
Due to the horticultural maintenance required throughout the year it is sometimes necessary to close the Glasshouses. Please do contact the Botanic Garden ahead of your visit if your require any further information (01865 286690).
In the event of severe weather conditions the Botanic Garden may close to visitors at short notice. Please check the website before your visit for details of any closures.
