We have a trail and two family friendly backpacks, all available for you to borrow during your visit.
This trail around the Botanic Garden features plants mentioned by Shakespeare in his plays and sonnets. The trail will run between March 1st and October 31st. For more information about Oxford's celebrations of the Bard go to http://shakespeareoxford2016.co.uk
Big Botanic Backpacks
Our family friendly backpacks will open up a world of exploration and investigation to you. Use the activities and equipment inside to help focus your walk around the Garden and Glasshouses.
There are currently two themes to choose from “Games” and “Medicinal”. They contain a selection of activities suitable for a range of ages, and are packed full of ideas to help you get the most from your visit.
Backpacks can be signed out without charge from the ticket office and used for the duration of your visit.
Explore the Garden and play some of our garden-themed games such as Botanic Bingo and the wheelbarrow memory game!
Suitable for family groups with children aged 4 - 7 years.
Use the medical case notes to explore the medicinal plant beds and find out a bit more about your body. Learn how to use a stethoscope and find out who is the most relaxed member of your family!
Suitable for family groups with children aged 7 - 11 years.
Backpacks are available to borrow from the ticket office all year round on a first-come first-served basis:
March - October: daily, 9 am - 4.15 pm
November: daily, 9 am - 3.15 pm
December - February: weekends only
