Tours with trained volunteers
We offer booked tours throughout the year. Tours normally last between 60 and 90 minutes.
Booked group tours are available on weekdays throughout the year starting at any time from 10 am to 3 pm. In addition to our 'Introduction to the Botanic Garden' tour, two subject tours are also offered: ‘The History of the Botanic Garden’; and ‘Introduction to the Harcourt Arboretum’. Other special subject and general garden tours led by horticultural staff can be booked on weekdays subject to staff availability.
Introduction to the Botanic Garden: this tour introduces visitors to the layout and structure of the Garden, its various plant collections and to the important developments made during recent years.
History of the Botanic Garden: this tour explains how the garden has evolved over nearly 400 years. Guides will introduce you to some of the more important characters involved and to many of the changes made during this period.
Introduction to Harcourt Arboretum: this tour introduces visitors to the Arboretum in Nuneham Courtenay. It will cover the history of the site, and the collections.
