Message from our Director
Professor Simon Hiscock
It was with great sadness and regret that we made the decision to close the Botanic Garden and Arboretum until further notice. This was done to support nationwide efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus and encourage social distancing.
We attempted to keep the Arboretum open for as long as possible, as a sanctuary for people’s mental health and wellbeing, but ultimately our absolute priority had to be to protect our visitors and staff from the coronavirus.
Our dedicated staff continue to maintain OBGA’s wonderful collections so that when the Botanic Garden and Arboretum reopen they will be displayed in all their floral glory for our visitors to enjoy once again.
In the meantime, you can visit both sites virtually with our online guide to the Botanic Garden and Arboretum and through our social media channels, where we are posting regular images and updates on what is looking good as the spring progresses.
We depend on the income we receive from entry fees, annual passes, and Friends membership to support our work in collections development, research, schools and adult education, and conservation, so we encourage you to support us during these challenging times. You can do this by making a donation, purchasing an annual pass or becoming a Friend.
Thank you for supporting Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum and we look forward to welcoming you back when the situation changes.
