Looking Good Now - Amorphophallus konjac in the Fernery

Fri April 21st, 2017

The monstrous, but also rather fascinating, Amorphophallus konjac is currently in flower in our Fernery. With its enormous flower and sinister appearance, it is also known as the voodoo lily, devil's tongue, or snake palm. Although also sometimes called the elephant yam, and commonly eaten in east asia, this plant is not part of that family. It can be used to create a substitute for gelatine.
