The 25th July 2021 marks 400 years of botanical research and teaching by the University of Oxford.
As a celebration and count-down to this anniversary, the University of Oxford Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum, together with the Oxford University Herbaria and the Department of Plant Sciences, is highlighting 400 plants of scientific and cultural significance.
From November 24th 2013, one plant will be profiled each week.
The project can be followed on Twitter @Plants400 and at http://herbaria.plants.ox.ac.uk/bol/plants400, which will enable people to find out more about each featured plant. Images of these plants growing in the Botanic Garden or Harcourt Arboretum, or preserved as a valuable specimen in one of the University Herbaria are also included.
You can hear all about the featured plants on BBC Radio Oxford's "Garden Cafe" Sunday lunchtime programme.
