Highlands Day Centre
Attendees of the Highlands Day Centre in Banbury have been working with visual artist Dionne Freeman during summer 2013 to create work inspired by collections in the Botanic Garden. Dionne has used the Garden on previous occasions as inspiration for her own work and solo show 'Bringing the Outside in' 2011. The participants used a variety of media to respond to a series of photographs taken by the students at Meadowbrook College during their visits to the Garden. The resulting pieces were exhibited at a gallery space established by Dionne at Meadowbrook College. The project culminated in the participants making a special journey into Oxford to visit the Garden and to have lunch on a sunny afternoon in September. After refreshments in the Conservatory participants explored the Glasshouses and Walled Garden with a member of the Education Team finishing at the Fountain for a well-earned rest.
