The Botanic Garden is looking for a qualified horticulturist to join its glasshouse team. This full-time post offers a unique opportunity to join the staff in a busy and vibrant department. The collections at the Botanic Garden are used for education activities, reference, conservation and research. The post holder will contribute specifically to the cultivation and development of the glasshouse plant collections.


We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a level 3 horticultural qualification and experience of working in a glasshouse environment within a collections-based setting. They will be expected to have a good understanding of a wide variety of plants and their requirements. The work of the department requires that the post holder work well in a team and on their own initiative.


The post holder must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. As part of the glasshouse team you will feel comfortable working in a public environment, answering enquiries and delivering guided tours.


Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment with the University will be subject to a satisfactory disclosure report from the Criminal Records Bureau.
