Summer Opera Event ‘Il mondo alla roversa’ by Baldassare Galuppi This will be the first British staging of the sparkling 1750 comedy with a libretto by the great Venetian playwright Carlo Goldoni. He and Galuppi are credited with ‘inventing’ opera buffa. We still have some tickets left for this very special event, performed in

Gardeners Question Time Towersey Manor, Near Thame By kind permission of Mr and Mrs David Barnett Reception at 6.30pm with a complimentary glass of wine and an opportunity to walk around the splendid gardens. Question Time at 7.30pm in the fine timber framed barn with another great team (Timothy Walker, chairman, together with Helen Yemm, Walter Sawyer, Rupert Golby and Marina Christopher). There will be plants for sale. Jazz in a Summer Meadow The music and picnic will, as usual, be at the Harcourt Arboretum. Full details in the accompanying advert. Exhibition of Botanical Art by Jenny Jowett There will be an exhibition of new work by this distinguished artist in the Said Business School for 3 weeks from November 5th 2009. Entrance will be free and the artist will be contributing a percentage of sales to the Friends. 
Plant Sale 2010 Harcourt Arboretum Maura Allen who will be organising the Friends’ Bi-annual Plant Sale writes: The sale will be on Sunday 23rd May 2010 at the Harcourt Arboretum, Nuneham Courtney. We hope that as usual it will draws in thousands of visitors from across Oxfordshire and beyond to buy shrubs, herbaceous plants, annuals, herbs, grasses and vegetable seedlings ranging from the rare to the common. We rely heavily on donations of high quality plants from Friends and supporters and ask that you think of the sale when dividing, propagating and potting up plants over the
next year. Digital Photography Courses 2010 We have the opportunity to run digital flower photography classes in the Garden during May and June 2010, with well-known flower photographer Sue Bishop (www.suebishop.co.uk). There would be two levels: beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced and each course would run from 10am until 4pm, with a maximum number of 10 participants. The morning would be classroom based and the afternoon session would be practical hands-on tuition, in the garden and the glass houses. The cost would be £60 for the day, including a picnic lunch.
