Behind the Scenes

The Botanic Garden was founded to glorify nature and promote the furtherance of learning. Almost 400 years on our work still focuses on education and conservation and the Botanic Garden supports a large range of research activities both within the University and beyond.

 

 

Conservation

The Botanic Garden fully supports the work of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation. This comprises of 16 targets with a deadline of 2020.

Research

The Botanic Gardens collections are available to be used for research purposes.

Collaboration

The University of Oxford Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum work collaboratively with other departments of the University of Oxford, with Botanic Gardens in the UK and abroad, and belong to wider networks of Botanic Gardens and Arboreta.
