The largest of all our glasshouses is home to our collection of tropical economic plants. A walk through this house could be likened to a trip to your local supermarket with burgeoning shelves of tropical fruits and spices. On every morning in term time there is a school group in this house. Many school children come to the Garden to discover more about how we use plants in our lives. For this reason we also grow the rosy periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus) that produces two chemicals that save the lives of thousands of children born with leukaemia.
